ECTS is used by all faculties and departments. the students and academic staff are very familiar with the concept. All departmental coordinators select the coursesat host university and match them with the home equivalences and Board of Management in each faculty and school confirms that the courses selected will be recognised when the mobility period ends. ADU gives priority to the quality of international students’ experience through pre-arrival informative e-mail, picking up from airport orientation programme, welcome reception extra-curricular activities, weekend trips, buddy partner student system, offering a wide range of housing options. Their exams are given in English although the language of instruction in our university is Turkish. The provision of information in curricula is available on the webpage. Each faculty puts its informative package and curriculum info on the web and our partners check the programme and the courses offered before they send their students. Please describe the practical arrangements agreed between the parties. Please specify also the monitoring and evaluation of the placement period as well as its recognition in the curriculum.
ADU is located in a touristic area of Turkey and has already been implementing a placement programme in its Tourism Faculty. There are coordinators of placement and these coordinators choose the best facilities to work with. They come into contact with hotels each year to renew the contracts before academic year starts. The hotels are chosen with special attention and they are five star touristic facilities; during the period, the checks are conducted by the coordinators. The hotels offer free rooms to our coordinators during their inspections. The period is fully recognised by the university and it is shown with its ECTS in the curriculum. The students are provided with free accomodation and free meals by the hotels. During the placement period, the students are given the chance to experience each department at hotel.
The same model will be applied in LLP activities and the partner institutions will benefit from the same contracts with the hotels when they send their own students to our students to our students. Also at the same time, our partners in other European countries promise to supply the same opportunities for us. In other faculties, arrangements to adapt internship periods to European models will be aimed in the future.
